Hello! My name is Madeleine Donahue and I’m an illustrator working in watercolor, pencil and ink, focused on children’s illustration.

I am an illustrator working mostly in watercolor with colored pencil and some printmaking.


I’m based in Qingdao, China. Along with drawing and playing with my pets, I spend my time exploring old buildings and the local wildlife. I particularly like bird watching and love to incorporate native flora and fauna as well as creatures from my hometown in Northern California into my work.

My focus is Children’s illustrations, particularly picture books, but I am interested in all illustrations for children. I also work in surface design and editorials, focusing on environmental and social issues.

I studied studio art at Kenyon College for my BA and got my MA in illustration from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2021.
